First Look image of Marvel's Cloak and Dagger released.

I had the great opportunity of working as a still photographer on the pilot of Marvel's Cloak and Dagger. The pilot has been picked and the series should be starting filming here in New Orleans in a couple of months.

“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging. The network has ordered ten one-hour episodes slated to debut early 2018. “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” stars Olivia Holt, Aubrey Joseph, Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, James Saito and J.D. Evermore. The series is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios. Joe Pokaski (“Underground,” “Heroes”) serve as showrunner and executive producer; Jeph Loeb

Stage Backing Translight for TNT's Claws

It's fascinating how various areas of expertise in different types of photography will, sooner or later, become a useful skill for a still photographer working in the film industry. Our duties can span from capturing key moments of a set scene, to documenting candid and unscripted happenings behind the cameras; from shooting plates of empty sets, to taking portraits of actors or photos of props for the art department. Event photography, photo journalism, landscape, portrait and still life photography comes to mind!

Having worked on TNT's Claws as a unit still photographer, I was contacted by Art Director Jeremy Woolsey (Hidden Figures) to shoot yet another project that required a skill I already had acquired in a recent past: panoramic photography. A huge panoramic photo was needed to be used a stage backing aka a translight for a set on a Claws. I have been actively taking QTVR interactive panoramas at 360 degrees since 2000 and the challenging request sure sparked my interest!  So over the next week I shot a few different panos ( 29 shots stitched together) resulting in this 15' x 117' translight shown.

I was floored when I saw how great the backing looked! ( shot with a Canon 5DSr about 1.7 gig file)

SXSW: Things get bonkers in exclusive 68 Kill images

One of the more notably nuts-sounding films debuting at this year’s SXSW festival is 68 Kill, which is playing as part of the Austin event’s Midnighters lineup. Written and directed by Cheap Thrills coauthor Trent Haaga, the film stars Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds) as a hard-working guy called Chip, who can’t say no to beautiful women, and gets in over his head when he agrees to help his girlfriend Liza (AnnaLyne McCord) steal $68,000. The movie costars Sheila Vand and Alisha Boe and its producers include Travis Stevens of Snowfort Pictures, who was also one of the producers on Cheap Thrills.

“If there’s one thing we’ve learned from our many trips to Austin, it’s that the audiences at SXSW expect the movies in this program to be bat-s–t insane,” Travis said, in a statement. “The crazier the better, otherwise why waste their time? We think we’ve made something bonkers and can’t wait to share it with the rabid genre community who fill the theaters every year.”

68 Kill is also produced by Bob Portal of Alliance Media Partners and David Lawson of Snowfort. Inderpal Singh and Stephanie Trepanier served as executive producers. Nick Ogiony of CAA will handle domestic sales. Films Distribution is currently selling 68 Kill at EFM.

The Domestics

The Domestics

What a fantastic ride was working on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios' post-apocalyptic thriller The Domestics !!!

Written and directed by Michael P. Nelson, starring Tyler Hoechlin (Supergirl), Kate Bosworth, Lance Reddick (The Wire) and Sonoya Mizuno (LA LA Land). The film takes place in futuristic wasteland when a young couple travels through a harrowing, gang-ravaged countryside in an attempt to make it home.

Cast and crew while highly professional were yet fun and friendly. Working with Italian Director of Photography Maxime Alexandre and 1st AD William Paul Clark, keeping the set running on time but at the same time entertained!  I can't wait to see this film and I am excited as well of the unit photography work I have done.  Hopefully MGM Studios will release some of my stills relatively soon.

Wrapped on Swamp People Season 8

I have been a fan of the show and have always watched it so when the opportunity to work as a still photographer on History Channel's Swamp People came along I was very excited! Not only the talent and crew were amazing but so were all the people I met along the way! We filmed in gorgeous places and caught ( the hunters did! ) some huge gators! What a ride it was indeed;  in the swamp and driving to the remote locations mostly in the Atchafalaya Basin. Hard work, very early morning calls (even 3:30, 4:00 am) but a job that I won't ever forget... Be sure to watch this new season which will start sometimes early next year.  I can't wait to see how they are going to use some of the amazing shots I took! 'Choot 'Em!

On the chase boat from a shoot with Troy and Chase Landry, The few gators you see here are just the overflow from the main boat which is full of them and and almost sinking in the water.

Created Equal

Last day of filming on the drama Created Equal directed by Bill Duke and starring Edy Ganem (Devious Maids), Lou Diamond Phillips (Longmire), Aaron Tveit (Braindead, Graceland), Greg Alan Williams (Greenleaf), Yohance Myles (Containment). It was such an honor to work with this highly talented team of professionals!
Plot: Desperate to become a priest in the Catholic Church, Alejandra Batista turns to Thomas O'Reilly, a successful lawyer who files suit against the Archdiocese of New Orleans for sex discrimination without justifiable cause.
